digging deeper
This will become a cardigan. All the bits have been knitted and Dottie is helping me block it. I can't imagine why cats want to sit on wet wool with pins sticking in it, but they always do.

I need to sew all the pieces together, then knit the neck and button band and it will be done! Then I will be able to try it on and see if it fits. The problem with knitting is that you can't return it for another size.

next!
The next project in my 2008 pile of unfinished knitting are these fingerless mitts. I just need to knit one thumb and they will be done.

I know it seems weird, but fingerless mitts really do keep your hands warm. At least when you have to use your fingers the rest of your hand stays undercover.
Isn't this hand-dyed yarn beautiful? I bought it in my favorite yarn shop in New York City. It's a very small shop, and the walls are just covered with yarn. They can barely fit a table in the middle.

a long winter's night
Now that the holidays are over its time to enjoy the slower pace of winter. Sit by the fire, snuggle under blankets, drink lots of hot chocolate, enjoy walking in snow, avoid driving in it. Anticipate spring!
I have several projects that put away during the holidays. I plan to pick them up and finish them before gentler weather beacons me. This sweater has one sleeve to go!
